Baking Soda has many household uses from being used as a cleaner, a deoderizer and even a toothpaste!
I use Baking Soda to clean counter tops in the kitchen and bathroom. Mix a tablespoon of baking soda with a little bit of water to form a paste and using an old toothbrush or scrubbing brush, use it to clean benches, sinks and even the seals around taps and plug holes to remove built up soap scum.
It can also be used as a deoderizer. If you have nasty odours in your fridge or freezer, place an open box of baking soda inside to absorb the odours. In fact you can use it anywhere that smells too strongly. Rubbish bins, carpets (sparingly) and even smelly shoes. If you have smelly feet, and yes this can happen to all of us, wash your feet with warm soapy water, dry thoroughly then rub baking soda into your feet, concentrating on areas between your toes. Doing this daily will help to kill the bacteria that causes tinea and the bad smells often referred to in some families as "Toe Jams" lol
Baking Soda can also be used as a toothpaste, skin cleanser and as an alkalizer for people suffering from indegestion and heartburn.

There is also new information circling the web that Baking Soda may also be able to help fight cancer. I have heard different arguments about it from many people with differing opinions so I have done a little web surfing on the topic to see what I could find. I think everyone would have to use their own judgement on discerning the truth of the articles. I for one would like to know who the cancer survivors were! If it were true, there would be a lot of doctors out of business today. Perhaps that is why it isn't so widely known about? Something to think about anyway :-)

Edit: I can now add another handy use for Baking Soda. My 4yr old daughter is currently covered head to toe in chicken pox and is struggling not to scratch. My first choice would have been to sponge the blisters with chamomile tea but seeing as I currrently don't have any, the next best choice was Baking Soda.
I used 1 Tablespoon in two cups of warm water to sponge the blisters and let the baking soda air dry on her skin to stop the itching and irritation. My daughter told me her spots don't itch anymore so hopefully we can rest easier for tonight - until the baking soda wears off!
